Every date on this page comes from the Canada Revenue Agency’s own page, “Payment dates for CRA administered benefits and credits”, checked on September 29, 2026, and from each program’s CRA payment-dates page. This page is a calendar, not advice: the amount you get, and whether you get a payment at all, depends on your tax return and family situation. Your CRA My Account is the only place that shows your own next payment.
Which CRA payments are coming in October 2026?
October 2026 is one of the busiest months on the CRA calendar, because the quarterly Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit and the advanced Canada workers benefit both land in the same month as the monthly programs:
- Monday, October 5: Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (the benefit that replaced the GST/HST credit).
- Friday, October 9: Ontario trillium benefit (moved up from the 10th, which is a Saturday) and the advanced Canada workers benefit.
- Tuesday, October 20: Canada child benefit, including the related provincial and territorial programs paid with it.
- Friday, October 23: Newfoundland and Labrador disability benefit.
There is no Alberta child and family benefit payment in October; its next date is November 27. For the full list of GST-type payments across the year, the GST and Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit payment dates page has the history back to January.
CRA payment dates 2026: the full calendar
The table below puts every program on one line per month, so you can see everything the CRA pays in a given month at a glance. Each cell is the day the CRA issues the payment. A dash means that program has no payment that month.
How to read this table: One row per month of 2026. GST/CGEB = the GST/HST credit (January and April) and the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit that replaced it (July and October). OTB = Ontario trillium benefit, ACWB = advanced Canada workers benefit, ACFB = Alberta child and family benefit, NLDB = Newfoundland and Labrador disability benefit.

What CRA payments are left in 2026?
After October, the remaining 2026 dates are:
- November: Ontario trillium benefit on Tuesday, November 10; Canada child benefit on Friday, November 20; Newfoundland and Labrador disability benefit on Wednesday, November 25; Alberta child and family benefit on Friday, November 27.
- December: Ontario trillium benefit on Thursday, December 10; Canada child benefit on Friday, December 11; Newfoundland and Labrador disability benefit on Thursday, December 24.
The December CCB date is more than a week earlier than most months. The CRA’s dates page does not say why, so plan around the date itself.
What were the CRA benefit payment dates in September 2026?
September 2026 had three scheduled CRA payments: the Ontario trillium benefit on Thursday, September 10, the Canada child benefit on Friday, September 18, and the Newfoundland and Labrador disability benefit on Friday, September 25. There was no GST/HST credit or Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit payment in September. That benefit is quarterly, and after July 3 its next payment is October 5.
Note that the September CCB payment came on the 18th, not the 20th. Several CCB dates in 2026 are off the usual day, which is why the program tables below list every date rather than a rule of thumb.
What were the CRA payment dates in August 2026?
August 2026 had four scheduled CRA payments: the Ontario trillium benefit on Monday, August 10, the Canada child benefit on Thursday, August 20, the Newfoundland and Labrador disability benefit on Tuesday, August 25, and the Alberta child and family benefit on Thursday, August 27. There was no GST/HST credit or Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit payment in August, and no advanced Canada workers benefit payment either; both are paid only in the months shown in the calendar above.
Which CRA payment dates apply to you?
Not everyone gets every payment on the calendar. The CRA lists seven programs, but the GST/HST credit and the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit are the same quarterly payment under two names, so there are six in practice: two national benefits (the CCB and the GST/HST credit or CGEB), one advance on a federal tax credit (the ACWB) and three provincial programs the CRA pays for Ontario, Alberta and Newfoundland and Labrador. This summary shows who each program is for and how often it pays:
| Program | Who it is for | How often it pays in 2026 | Contact the CRA after |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canada child benefit (CCB) | Families with children under 18 who file taxes | Monthly (12 dates) | 5 working days |
| GST/HST credit, then CGEB | Lower- and modest-income individuals and families | Quarterly (4 dates) | 10 working days |
| Ontario trillium benefit (OTB) | Ontario residents who qualify for the energy and property tax, Northern Ontario energy or sales tax credit | Monthly (12 dates) | 10 working days |
| Advanced Canada workers benefit (ACWB) | Lower-income workers who are expected to get the Canada workers benefit | 3 dates | 10 working days |
| Alberta child and family benefit (ACFB) | Eligible Alberta families with children | Quarterly (4 dates) | 5 working days |
| Newfoundland and Labrador disability benefit (NLDB) | Eligible Newfoundland and Labrador residents with a disability | Monthly (12 dates) | 10 working days |
The CCB and the GST/HST credit rows on the CRA page both say they include “related provincial and territorial programs”. In practice, that means some provincial and territorial benefits are paid together with the federal payment on the same date. To check which programs you get, and how much, the benefits estimator for newcomers and families is a starting point, and My Account has the final numbers.

The Canada child benefit is the only federal program on the calendar that pays every month. Its payment period runs from July to June: the January to June 2026 payments were based on the 2024 tax year, and the July to December 2026 payments are based on the 2025 tax year. If your total benefit for the year is less than $240, there is no monthly payment; the CRA pays one lump sum with the July payment. The Canada child benefit payment dates guide goes deeper on CCB timing, including what changes each July.

The GST/HST credit and the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit are the same quarterly payment under two names. The January and April 2026 payments were GST/HST credit payments based on 2024 income; the July and October 2026 payments are CGEB payments based on your 2025 tax return. If the amount per quarter is less than $50, there are no quarterly payments: the whole year’s amount comes in July. How the new benefit is calculated, and who qualifies, is covered in the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit explainer.

The Ontario trillium benefit is Ontario’s payment, but the CRA administers it and pays it on the 10th of each month. When the 10th is a weekend or a statutory holiday, the payment moves to the last working day before, which is why January, May and October 2026 show the 9th or 8th. If your yearly OTB is $500 or less, it is paid as one lump sum in July rather than monthly. The Ontario trillium benefit guide explains the three credits it combines.

The advanced Canada workers benefit is part of the Canada workers benefit paid ahead of tax time instead of as a lump sum when you file. The CRA lists three advance dates in 2026. The rest of the benefit, if any, is settled on your tax return. Who qualifies and how the amount is worked out is in the Canada workers benefit guide.

Alberta’s disability income program is paid by the province, not the CRA, so it is not on this calendar: its monthly deposit dates are in the AISH payment dates guide. Saskatchewan Income Support is also a provincial payment, with its own SIS payment dates.

The Alberta and Newfoundland and Labrador programs are provincial benefits the CRA pays on the province’s behalf, so they appear on the same federal calendar. Note that the ACFB, like the CCB, uses the shorter 5-working-day wait before you contact the CRA.
When should you contact the CRA about a missing payment?
Contact the CRA only after the waiting period for that program has passed: 5 working days after the payment date for the Canada child benefit and the Alberta child and family benefit, and 10 working days for everything else on the calendar. These waits come from the footnotes on the CRA’s own payment-dates page.
How to read this table: Count working days from the payment date in the tables above. Weekends and statutory holidays do not count.

In effect from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026; checked September 29, 2026.
Before you call, the CRA suggests three checks:
- Check the payment status in My Account. It shows your benefit payments and your next scheduled payment.
- Make sure your personal information is current. Check your address, direct deposit details and marital status in My Account.
- Look for other reasons a payment stopped or changed. A frequent one is a tax return that was not filed or not yet assessed, since most of these benefits are recalculated from your return every year.
If a return is the problem, filing it is the fix. Free tax software for Canadian returns makes it quick to catch up, and people new to Canada can follow the first tax return guide for newcomers.
How do you get a reminder before each CRA payment?
Sign in to CRA My Account and turn on benefit and credit payment reminders. The CRA sends the email reminder about one week before the payment is issued. My Account also shows your next payment and its amount, which is more useful than any general calendar, because it reflects your own tax return, family situation and province.
Is there a CRA notice about delayed payments right now?
Yes. On September 29, 2026, the CRA’s payment-dates page carried a notice that wildfires have delayed the delivery of a small number of benefit and credit cheques. Payments by direct deposit are issued as scheduled. If you cannot access a benefit or credit cheque and need immediate help, the CRA’s notice gives the number 1-800-387-1193. Notices like this come and go, so check the CRA page itself if a mailed cheque is late.
Why is the GST credit now called the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit?
The CRA replaced the GST/HST credit with the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit starting with the July 2026 payment. The CRA says the eligibility, payment calculation and structure are the same as they were for the GST/HST credit, and it is still paid quarterly, in January, April, July and October. That is why the 2026 calendar shows the first two payments under the old name and the last two under the new one. Searches for “GST payment dates” and “CGEB payment dates” are asking about the same deposit.
Is there a carbon tax rebate payment in 2026?
No. On March 15, 2025, the Government of Canada stopped the federal fuel charge and the Canada Carbon Rebate for individuals, and the CRA says there are no further quarterly payments after the April 2025 payment. The rebate, formerly called the Climate action incentive payment, is therefore not on the 2026 calendar. One exception: people who were eligible but have not yet filed a 2021, 2022, 2023 or 2024 return still get the payment for that year once the return is assessed.
Why are some CRA payment dates not on the usual day?
Most programs have a usual day, but the CRA calendar is the rule, not the pattern. The Ontario trillium benefit moves to the last working day before the 10th when the 10th is a weekend or statutory holiday. For the other programs, the CRA’s dates page lists the dates without explaining why some move, such as the Canada child benefit on June 19, September 18 and December 11, 2026. Read the date from the table instead of assuming the 20th.
When will the 2027 CRA payment dates be published?
When this page was checked on September 29, 2026, the CRA’s page listed 2026 dates only; no 2027 dates had been published. The 2027 dates will be added to the tables on this page once the CRA posts the new calendar. Treat any 2027 “dates” you see elsewhere before then as guesses.
What about CPP, OAS and other federal payments?
CPP and OAS are paid by Service Canada, not the CRA, and follow a separate monthly calendar. They are not on the CRA page this calendar comes from. The CPP and OAS payment dates for 2026 are on their own page, and the OAS, CPP and GIS planner estimates how much those payments add up to in retirement. The Canada Disability Benefit is also not on the CRA’s benefit payment-dates page.
What are the common mistakes with CRA payment dates?
- Assuming every program pays on the same day. The CCB, OTB, ACFB and NLDB each have their own dates, even within the same month.
- Calling too early. The CRA asks you to wait 5 or 10 working days after the payment date, depending on the program, before contacting it.
- Expecting a GST payment every month. The GST/HST credit and CGEB are quarterly only.
- Not filing a tax return. Most of these benefits are recalculated from your return, and a missing return can stop payments when the new benefit year starts in July.
- Relying on an old address or bank account. Update both in My Account before the next payment date, not after it is missed.
- Looking for a carbon rebate in 2026. That program ended after the April 2025 payment.
