Immigrating to Canada: money guides and calculators

Plain-language money guides for immigrating to Canada: Express Entry, provincial nominee programs, proof of funds and sponsorship, with official sources.

What does it cost to immigrate to Canada?

Moving to Canada takes money as well as paperwork: many economic immigration programs ask for proof of settlement funds, and every application carries government fees. These guides and calculators explain Express Entry, provincial nominee programs and family sponsorship in plain language, link to the official IRCC pages they rely on, and show when each rule was last checked.

Frequently asked questions

Is YieldMaple an immigration consultant?

No. YieldMaple is an independent personal finance publication. Our immigration guides explain the official rules and the money side of moving to Canada; they are not legal advice. For advice on your own case, use a lawyer or a licensed consultant registered with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants.

Where do your immigration figures come from?

From Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and provincial government pages. Each guide lists its sources and the date we last checked them, and figures that change often, such as application fees and proof-of-funds amounts, are re-checked on a schedule.

What is the difference between Express Entry and a provincial nominee program?

Express Entry is the online system IRCC uses to manage applications for three federal economic immigration programs. A provincial nominee program lets a province or territory nominate people for permanent residence; a nomination through a stream aligned with Express Entry adds points to a candidate’s Comprehensive Ranking System score.

How often are these guides updated?

Every page shows the date its rules were last verified. Rules that change often are checked on a set schedule, and a guide is updated when IRCC or a province announces a change. Corrections are listed on our public corrections page.
